Absence
Parents/carers are required to contact the school before 9.30am on every day of their child’s absence with full details of the reason their child is absent and each subsequent day of absence, in person, by letter, by email (admin@lps.hereford.sch.uk), by phone (01568 616919) or by Parentmail.
The Attendance and Punctuality Policy is updated annually and can be found on the website.
Term Time Leave of Absence
The law does not grant parents an automatic right to take their child out of school during term time
Permission must be sought in advance and must be for exceptional circumstances. Local Authority regulations state that leave of absence applications should be made at least 4 weeks prior to the leave taking place, and, if it is for a holiday, ideally before the holiday is booked.
Leave of absence during term time will not be authorised unless there is an exceptional circumstance.
All requests need to be made in writing using the following form - Click here for form
Once received this will go to the headteachers to review. If you take your child out of school and the absence is not agreed by the head teacher, this will be recorded as unauthorised absence. We will then notify Hereford Council and you may face a Fixed Penalty Notice and/or other legal action.
