HIGHER LEVEL TEACHING ASSISTANT

Salary: HC6, £15,027.82 - £17,460.40 (gross actual)

Hours: 32.5 hours per week, term time only (8.30am to 4pm)

On behalf of the Governors of Leominster Primary School, Hoople is seeking to appoint a professional Higher Level Teaching Assistant.

The role:
The Higher Level Teaching Assistant will work with Teachers to lead and support lessons to help the development of the pupils and ensure that all children achieve their potential. This will include working with whole classes and groups.

About you:
You must have a HLTA status and be able to demonstrate:

  • a range of behaviour management strategies and teaching skills;
  • an enthusiasm to work with children and help all pupils succeed;
  • first class communication skills, at all levels;
  • a professional and positive behaviour;
  • experience of primary phase or of working in a similar role;
  • knowledge of supporting children with EAL would also be preferable;
  • the role will include PPA cover in across all areas of the primary school.

DESIGNATED SAFEGUARDING LEAD

Salary: HC7, £20,400.66 - £24,123.31 (gross actual)
Job start: September 2018

Interview date: 5th and 6th July 2018

Hours: 37 hours per week, term time only, plus 1 week during the school holidays

Leominster Primary School is seeking to appoint a professional Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) to join our warm and friendly staff.

The DSL will work under the supervision of the Deputy Headteacher and alongside our Student and Family Support Worker, Learning Mentor and the SEN team, to work with our staff, pupils and families to promote their welfare and develop pupils’ potential. The DSL will take the lead responsibility, under the Deputy Head’s supervision, for all safeguarding and child protection matters arising at the school and to support all other staff in dealing with any child protection concerns that arise. The successful candidate will also take the lead with managing behaviour across the school.

The successful candidate must have NVQ Level 4 (or equivalent) in a relevant subject eg safeguarding children and be able to demonstrate:

  • good literacy and numeracy skills in order to communicate professionally to others and produce reports as necessary;
  • an ability to lead on all child protection issues within school;
  • a secure knowledge of complex safeguarding, child protection issues and of child development;
  • an ability to work collaboratively with families to provide positive outcomes for pupils;
  • an ability to lead staff training effectively;
  • an ability to lead and promote strategies to encourage positive attitudes and behaviour across the school;
  • an enthusiasm to work with children and help all pupils succeed;
  • first class communication skills, at all levels;
  • a professional and positive behaviour;
